We were walking along a glacial river bed  in Nepal  when we were passed by a woman on a small gaited horse loaded with supplies.  She sported a North Face backpackm and traditional wool horseblanket.  In the painting, I wanted to show the neutral colors of the landscape against the rich vibrancy of traditional and modern garb. The horse had a little bell attached to his throatlatch which tinkled as they paced by.
This was a from hike on the way to Annapurna Base Camp.  You can see the seasonal village in the distance.  It shows the scale of the mountains and imposing angles.  Note the size of one of the boulders is as big as the village!  I really had fun playing  with light and shadow, warm and cool. I did a study and then felt like I could really show if better in a 24 x 30 format.

Webb Store

This is where everyone rents their innertubes to float down the Hiawasse River.  It is one of the last bastions of the older gas stations where there is a little bit of everything and even rocking chairs in which to enjoy your purchase.

August in Reliance, TN

This is the Hiwasse River, while it is still in the early morning.  As the day passes, the river grows deeper and tubers float by.

New painting

There was no light last week to paint early in the morning, so Janis and I went to her studio.  She painted from a photo and I took advantage of a somewhat still model.
